Justin is also doing some language arts critical thinking and math critical thinking every week. It is not required by the school, but we are doing some pages weekly nonetheless.
Our Story of the World series. It is 4 volumes in length which will take 4 school years to finish. It starts in Ancient times, and takes us to modern times. It has an accompanying activity book filled with activities to do with each chapter, as well as map work, and coloring pages. I have the kids also summarize each chapter too.
Our 2 spelling books we will complete this year. It is first and second grade spelling. They will be pro's at spelling!

Justin's Explode the Code series. We will do all 3 books this year. This series teaches phonics, and helps with reading as well.
Justin's favorite to do. Draw then Write. You learn how to draw something, and then spend the next 3 pages writing about it. They love to pull out their crayons or colored pencils to jazz up their drawings.

Are curriculums expensive for home schooling?
Since we are going through a charter school in san diego, we are keeping up with the state standards, we get to choose the curriculum that best fits the needs of our kids, and it's free!!! plus each kid gets $75 each month to put toward educational classes that the family would choose. I get to teach at home, and push them in their academics or slow down if need be to teach something that may be difficult. you dont get that one on one with public schools- that's for sure!
